Few people know that Hollywood merged with Monterey at La Mirada in the 1960s. The secrets of La Mirada estate’s intriguing and rich past will be celebrated with film screenings, music, drink and an awesome crowd of groovy people.

Tour the house where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, stayed while filming Sandpiper (1965) in Big Sur. Hear piano tunes by Nico Georis, son of the musician who composed the original score for cult surf flick Endless Summer (1966). Rick Chelew will complement Nico’s style with his own on stand-up bass. All while both movies of the time provide a backdrop of drama against an already unique party venue.

1960s cocktail attire is encouraged. Admission is free for Monterey Contemporaries members and $12 for non-members.

The Monterey Contemporaries are progressive young professionals who enjoy art, cultural events, great music, good food and wine, and meeting others who share their interests. The Monterey Contemporaries is a membership group of Monterey Museum of Art and is open to all Museum members.
