Hoopin' For Life VIII youth basketball tournament and bone marrow donor recruitment drive will be held on April 12-13, 2008 at Evergreen State University in Olympia, in the gym . The donor registration drive will be held on Saturday the 12th only, starting at 10 am. This annual event is held in memory of Michael Penon, a mixed heritage youth who died from leukemia, after no unrelated donor could be found for him. Unrelated donors are needed, because only some 25% of patients have a match with a biological sibling.

The donor drove is open to the public, and will register healthy potential donors between the ages of 16- 60 . Those under 18 must have consent of parent or guardian. There is no charge to register, but donations to support the costs of testing are most welcome. Proceeds from the basketball tournament will go to the American Bone Marrow Donor Registry. For more information, contact Derrick at DAPSPORTS@yahoo.com.
