International Day Against Homophobia May 17, 2010

Join Equality Across America, Listen UP Live and The Lifestyle Power Players as they take action and transform Dupont Circle into a burial ground. You are invited to pay respect and raise awareness to those who have lost their lives to other's ignorance. There are several ways to help bring death to discrimination. You can design headstones for a fallen loved one or a general instance in which individuals have lost their life to homophobia. Or join others who will lie in silence and stealth under these headstones. Ultimately, this event is about rising in solidarity to honor the story of the fallen and symbolize the strength of survivors. You are also welcome to come and place flowers and candles at the fountain as a sign of respect. If you can do nothing else, please wear black and a visible bandaid. Please join others in showing the bullies in school and in society that the insecurities of others are not a reflection of who we are but of who they as persecutors are not.
