Iredell Health System Recognizes Prostate Awareness Month with Free Cancer Screenings September 17, 2009

In recognition of Prostate Awareness Month, Iredell Health System’s Community Wellness Department will be providing community screenings for prostate cancer on Thursday, September 17th from 11:00-1:00 pm at the Statesville Fitness and Activity Center.

Preceded only by skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer afflicting the male population and the second leading cause of cancer death in men. Unfortunately, signs and symptoms may not show up until the disease has progressed, stressing the importance of early detection.

In addition to prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings, free blood pressure checks will be offered and colorectal kits made available.
