Justin.tv is hosting tech talks for the SOMA hacker community. Free pizza will be served at noon, and the talk will start at 12:30 (for approx. 15-20 min). The talks will be open to anyone in the area who is interested in listening, and will also be broadcast on justin.tv/hackertv.

Leah Culver, founder of Pownce, will be giving the first talk on OAuth.

OAuth is an open protocol to allow secure API authentication in a simple and standard method from desktop and web applications. Based on several other existing API authentication methods and considered best-practice, OAuth is progressing towards becoming the standard authentication method for web service APIs. Leah Culver is one of the authors of the OAuth specification and the author of the Python library. She will be discussing the basics of OAuth and how websites and 3rd party developers benefit from using OAuth.
