Kale - World Music Group at Q'BA in association with Embassy of the Czech Republic. Members: Dezider Lucka vocal tambourine. Jan Duzda vocal, rhythm guitar. Emil Bisu Miko vocal, lead guitar. Milan Kroka vocal, lead guitar. Emil Pupa Miko vocal, bass guitar. Each member of "KALE" group has been playing and singing as long as they can remember, right from childhood, when they accompanied their parents, who were violinists and members of cimbalom (santoor) bands. "Kale" represents a modern version of a Gypsy band. In their albums they blend elements of several different cultures in a style at the same time deceptively simple but sophisticated, exotic yet friendly, Central European yet Latin American. They invoke sounds of Brazilian pop stars, as well echoes of Django Reinhart, the great Roma jazz guitarist and Gipsy Kings group. Gypsies lived in the area of Eastern and Central Europe for centuries and Gypsy music was always there, ranging from painfully slow laments to incredibly carefree whirling dances. Music that carried a clear and very emotional message. From classical musicians like Liszt, Dvorak, and Bartok to flamenco, klezmer and jazz, the influences of gypsy music are undeniable. In the mid 90s KALE performed at many sold-out concerts and their success led to recording contract with BMG. During recent years the group performed in 25 countries and hundreds of venues.
