Two singer-songwriters, a guitar and a piano.
Kate Phillips' music ranges from inspirational to poignant, and has been compared to "Shawn Colvin with a piano", an unplugged Sheryl Crow, or Vonda Shephard. Kate is known for her richly textured voice and memorable songs, which span from sacred to silly to sad.
Kate's special guest is Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist Bryan Rust. Bryan brings influences from Detroit and the South into his brand of folk-rock, ala Richard Thompson.
Kate and Bryan both play as solo artists and well as a duo, performing at festivals, cafes, special events, churches, and opening for national acts. They have several cd's between the two of them, and will be releasing a mostly live cd of Kate's later this summer (with Bryan's guitar on several songs), followed by a later cd of their performances together.
Come enjoy acoustic music, from folk to pop with a dash of country, blues and rockabilly this Thursday night! The venue is a lovely setting, with specialty teas and also baked goods. (And air conditioning!)
