About the Artist:
Born in Guinea-Bissau and growing up in Portugal, Kizomba has always been a part of Eddy Vents. Eddy devoted 15 years of his life, learning about the theory and history between the different forms of Lusophone music. Then he moved to England in October 2009 in order to look for innovative and stimulating prospects.
The foundation of his teaching is Kizomba history and musicality since this is the fundamental for a top quality dancer. He started his teaching career in March 2010 and since then has had the opportunity to teach in numerous congresses such as Mambo City 5 Stars, Pointins, Fitness Weakender, Kent Salsa Festival, Swimming Festival and Salsa Splash.
Eddy Vents is also the founder of Pitanga Dance, a group formed with the intention of delivering the traditional Kizomba through teaching and performance. The main objective when teaching is to facilitate and encourage student’s learning by acknowledging the origins of the music and dance. Moreover, when performing, the main purpose is to demonstrate the splendour of the dance and what might be the end result of the student’s hard work.
Eddy Vents has taught Kizomba all over the UK as well as in a variety of countries such as Jamaica, Croatia, Finland and France. His aim is to conquer the world with the Kizomba dance and the music.
We welcome Eddy and are happy to have him plant his Pitanga seeds here in San Francisco!
