Knightwind Ensemble In Concert March 21, 2010

With the retirement of our music director of 32 years in November 2009, our Associate Music Director, Mr. Don Glassel, will conduct the March concert. His theme, Transitions, signifies the transition from one music director to another.

Included on the program is the Magic Overture by Thomas Doss, an overture composed as an anniversary present for the Burgermusik Gotzis in Austria. The ensemble will also perform Mountain Prayers by Timothy Mahr, written to celebrate the career of Dr. Derald DeYoung, upon his retirement as Director of Bands at Calvin College. Also included on this program, in addition to others, is Johan de Meij’s Gandalf the Wizard, Vincent Persichetti’s Symphony No. 6, and David Holsinger’s Litugical Dances.
