Knightwind Ensemble Wins Sousa Foundation Award

Join the Knightwind Ensemble on Sunday, March 26, at 3:00pm, in the Schwan Concert Hall, at Wisconsin Lutheran College (8815 W. Wisconsin Avenue, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) for a program including wind band transcriptions that include pipe organ. Our performance includes Bach's masterpiece Toccata and Fugue, the Polka and Fugue from Weinberger's opera Schwanda the Bagpipe, and William Walton's Crown Imperial written for the coronation service for England's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

The Knightwind Ensemble is one of Milwaukee premiere adult wind bands, performing Milwaukee audiences for over four decades, and has now been named as one of two 2005 winners of the prestigious Sudler Silver Scroll Award presented by the Sousa Foundation. This award is recognition of community bands that have demonstrated particularly high standards of excellence in concert activities, and which have played a significant and leading role in the cultural and musical environment of their respective communities. A representative of the Sousa Foundation Award Committee will present the Ensemble with the Sudler Award at the March 26 concert.

Tickets are $7.00 for Adults, and $5.00 for Seniors/Students, and are available at the door.

More information about the concert can be found at the Knightwind Ensemble web site www.knightwind.org, or by calling 414-546-1923.
