The Washington Symphonic Brass honors the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The centerpiece of the concert is the Annapolis premiere of Joseph Schwantner's New Morning for the World, which includes narration selected from Dr. Kings writings, addresses, and speeches read by Dr. William B. Ray, world renowned opera singer, music educator and recent Annie Award winner. The piece bears witness to the continuing influence and nobility of Dr. Kings ideas, principles, and beliefs. The concert continues with the music of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Scott Joplin and Wynton Marsalis. For this very special musical salute to Dr. King, students are admitted free one hour before the concert begins. Tickets for this performance are on sale now. Adult tickets are $30 (plus a $3 per-ticket service charge) and special group rates are available.
