Two key aspects of living more sustainably involve taking more responsibility for growing your own food and making your home easier to heat in the winter. Examples of both are presented as part of this on-site visit to a home with an attached greenhouse, plantings of fruits and berries, and efforts to improve the thermal effectiveness of the building envelope through the use of movable insulating shutters, airlock entryways, and passive and hybrid solar architecture. David has been modifying his former summer cottage for over 30 years, with an emphasis on minimizing the need for purchased energy while maintaining indoor air quality and comfort. Co-sponsored with Concord Climate Action Network. Directions will be sent to registrants. - - Open to anyone age 16 or older. Registration is required. Call 781-259-2200 for details.
