London Improvisation in Performance (LIP)
At Greenwich Dance Agency
Friday 18th July 7.45PM
Sue MacLennan and Mary Prestidge, choreographers, improvisers and founders of Chisenhale Dance Space will present two performances as part of London Improvisation in Performance (LIP).
Sue MacLennan will direct a new work ‘Score’, with Lauren Potter and Andrew Fifield improvising in movement whilst Sue improvises with projecting mediated images from live video and music by Jamie McCarthy.
Mary Prestidge will perform ‘Maryland’, a solo that draws upon stories and memories of Mary as a dancer and performer, with sound and video from Philip Jeck and Lucy Cash.
Although more recently renowned for their teaching and mentoring, Mary and Sue have been at the cutting edge of dance practise since the 1970s. This will be a rare opportunity to celebrate the work of two of the pioneers of independent dance in the U.K and a chance to appreciate the context of many subsequent works and careers.
Kate Brown co-founded LIP (London Improvisation in Performance) with the late Rebecca Skelton in 2000, it has since been host to more than 100 performers at all stages of experience and of many different nationalities. LIP’s first collaboration with gDA was in 2004
