The torrential rain forced to close of the Inca city to tourists for three months, also will open the so-called "Inca Trail" for more adventurous travelers. The Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, nestled in the Andean region of Cuzco, Peru, will be reopened to tourism next April 1, three months after heavy rains damaged the access roads to the site.

The National Institute of Culture (INC) of Cuzco is also reported that open the so-called "Camino del Inca" of hard trails for those who want to know where the landscape near Machu Picchu.. The institution said in a press release that "as of that date (April 1) is allowed to enter the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu at various times, according to the transport capacity of rail service operators" .

He noted that, according to the company Ferrocarril Transandino SA (France Télécom SA) will enable the rail service only in the section from kilometer 82 (Piscacucho) to 112 (Aguas Calientes).

In order to protect tourists from criminal groups, the INC said it requested the provincial prosecutor of Crime Prevention of Cuzco, Gaby Noriega, to take appropriate action.
It further requested the Office of Tourism inspect the quality of rehabilitation works on the railway Piscacucho-Aguas Calientes and the technical documentation of the effectiveness and conditions of the movement of cars and passengers
