The annual "Made in Hong Kong" Film Festival, one of the area's most unique events, is being held now until August 21, 2011. Seven films from Hong Kong’s renowned film industry will be shown at the Freer Gallery of Art Meyer Auditorium every Friday and Sunday.
The final week of the summer festival of comedies, mysteries and martial arts films will close with a weekend devoted to the fascinating cross-cultural phenomenon between martial-arts movies and rap music. A "Hop Fu: Hip-hop meets Kung Fu" performance will be held on August 20 with DJ IXL and DJ Excess of the Kolabz Crew.
Seating for the screenings are free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Auditorium doors open approximately 30 minutes before each show. More details can also be found at the Gallery's website: http://www.asia.si.edu/events/films.asp.
