Who were the first sugar makers? How much syrup can be made from one tree? Can you identify a maple tree without any leaves? Help collect sap from our sugar bush and visit the evaporator where it boils down into a sticky treat. Hear some stories of the first sugar makers. Warm up by the fire and delight your taste buds with an old-time sugarhouse favorite. - - All ages welcome; up to three children per adult. "Backpack babies" (under 12 months and carried in a backpack or sling) are welcome free of charge, but strollers are not appropriate for the terrain we will cover; please mention these participants when registering. The fee for children age 12-17 months is half the regular fee. Fees apply to all participants, both adults and children. - - Things You Should Know: - - -Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary is a dynamic environment. Occasionally we may make programmatic changes to take advantage of new opportunities or to maintain the safety of the visitors and the animals we care for. - - -Children should be the age indicated by the start of each program. - - -Programs include time indoors, as well as outside, and will run rain or shine; please come dressed comfortably for our outdoor adventures! If your program is not mentioned, it will take place as scheduled. - - -In programs where there is a farm to food connection, snacks from the farm may be incorporated. Registration is required.
