“mARTi Gras 2009” is a community, family oriented event celebrating all of the arts including visual, music, and theatre.

The ever-popular “Gumbo Cook-Off” and “The Mask” competitions return with prizes of both cash and trophies for first, second, third place and People’s Choice awarded. There is a live auction and a silent auction plus, a raffle to win the original Ruidoso Fire Station mosaic composition.

Gumbo is available for on-site consumption along with other faire. A full-service bar is also provided.

Live music from 6:00-7:00pm by “First Class Brass” sets a true New Orleans Mardi Gras atmosphere. Country-western dance music follows with Rich Chorne and The Usual Suspects from 7:00-10:00pm.

There will be several demonstrations and exhibitions in many of the art forms. Children are invited to participate in a variety of hands-on activities.
