The Minneapolis non-profit Jazz is NOW! (formerly the for-profit club Brilliant Corners in downtown St. Paul) returns after a two-year hiatus. Acclaimed New York drummer Matt Wilson—sometimes hard-swinging, sometimes experimental, sometimes just weird but endlessly entertaining—and his Carl Sandburg Project will kick off JIN!'s performance series Dec. 7, an event co-sponsored with the Minnesota Opera. Plans for 2008 include the reintroduction of the Jazz is NOW! NOWnet, a flexibly sized composers' ensemble comprised of top local and New York-based musicians.
