Max Zuckerman has won first prizes in the Portland Guitar Festival Solo Competition, the Menuhin-Dowling Young Musicians Competition, and the American String Teachers' Association national competition, where he was the first classical guitarist to ever win the Grand Prize for all string instruments in the junior division.
