New Brunswick, NJ April 2008 - While Sundays mark a day of rest for some people, the Hub City Hellrazors of New Jersey’s own flat-track roller derby league, the New Jersey Dirty Dames, choose to do anything but. The team straps on their skates for their 2008 season opener to face Virginia’s River City Rollergirls on Sunday, April 20th at the Kendall Park Roller Rink in Kendall Park, NJ.
“We’re extremely excited about this season and want to prove to people why we’re the first and still the best league in New Jersey,” says Dirty Dames president, Kristen Arban, also more commonly known as Fender SmackHerFaster on the rink. “We’ve been practicing hard to get ready for this game and we’ll prove it on the 20th.”
The Hub City Hellrazors, NJDD’s all-star travel team, will face off against Richmond, Virginia’s River City Rollergirls at 7pm on the 20th. Not only will this game consist of fast-action, full-contact competition, but the game is a rematch from last year’s six-point victory the Dirty Dames had over Richmond. This time, however, the Dirty Dames will play on their home turf.
Other highlights for this event include live DJ music, merchandise, a fun-filled half-time entertainment show, raffles, and more.
This event will be held on Sunday, April 20th with doors opening at 6:30 pm at the Kendall Park Roller Rink, 3550 Rt. 27, Kendall Park, NJ. For more information and to purchase tickets online, please visit www.NJDirtyDames.com. Ticket costs are $12 general admission, $20 VIP, or $15 at the door. Public service workers receive $2 off at the door if they show a badge. All ages are welcome.
About NJDD
The New Jersey Dirty Dames (NJDD) is a league based out of New Brunswick, NJ, a.k.a., "Dirty Jersey". Founded in March 2006, NJDD is the original New Jersey flat-track roller derby league, including women representing all walks of life - from students to mothers to wives to everything in between, yet all maintain the same underlying spirit: that of a warrior, a woman, and a winner.
NJDD's all-star travel team, The Hub City Hellrazors, represents New Jersey in inter-league bouting; however, making a premier are the league’s two newest additions, Troop 666 and The Rink Wreckers. These two teams, mainly comprised of skaters from the all-star travel team, easily transform themselves from teammates into opponents as they face off against each other for intra-league bouting as well as playing other New York and New Jersey teams in the 2008 season.
As an aspiring WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) league, the Dirty Dames is a “by the skaters, for the skaters” organization. The women of NJDD can be seen all over the Garden State supporting their community and league through fundraising events, bouts, and more
