About Crystal Journey (David Hickey)

Based in Mount Hope, Ontario, David performs with Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, each produces a pure note or tone, the purest there is. You have to hear them to believe it. He plays them in combination with 8-18 Paiste Gongs, Santoor and Vibraphone. Every gong features a strong fundamental note tuned to represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and the other planets. “It’s like having a full orchestra.” comments David. He also performs with a vibraphone and santoor.

The past eight years have seen him touring Canada coast to coast performing over 800 shows and releasing 8 CD’s. David has played the Bowls and Gongs accompanied by various musicians as well as with the Winnipeg Chamber Orchestra June 2006.

The intent of the performance is to create soothing, meditative and healing music. Each one of the performances are completely improvised and unique. The music attracts a full range of listeners. Concerts are in two sets, each lasting about an hour.

Purchase your tickets at the locations below or on the Crystal Journey Website. We are expecting to sell out this concert, DO NOT wait to buy tickets. Tickets will not be available at the door. There will be limited space to lay down(reserve by emailing your recipet or ticket numbers), we ask that you reserve your space for that option. The rest will be seating.

There will be a limited number of rooms available to stay in and are booked on a first come first served basis. Do not wait to book your room if you are coming from out of town, we do expect these rooms to fill fast. Cost is $60 each/person for small privates, or $50 each($100 per couple) for two sharing in semi private bedrooms. There is a Facebook event page to announce information for local hotels once these rooms are booked. All information is available on the Crystal Journey Website.

For those that do not wish to stay at the retreat centre, there are a number of motels and hotels within a 5-10 minute drive.

CD's, Crystals and other merchandise will be available for sale. Sales are cash or cheque only. Its a good idea to bring blankets or yoga mats to lay down on for those in that area. Water will be available at dispensers but you must bring your own closable water bottle.

First set from 9pm to 10 pm. Then some snacks and tea, then the second set will start approximately 11pm and run into the new year.

The bedrooms are cozy with a spartan style - much like many retreat centers. They feature shared common areas and washrooms with showers. Check in is 4pm for this event and check out is 11am the next day. Parking is available near the rooms with a short walk to the venue.

What You Can Expect

The shows will take place in two 40 to 50 minute sets. David's usual set up includes 10-12 Quartz Crystal Bowls, 8-10 Paiste Planet Gongs, Vibraphone and Santoor. Nothing is pre-recorded or rehearsed. Each set and performance is sonically pure and unique. You can purchase CDs and other merchandise at the shows with cash or cheque.

We invite you to take a seat or lay down as close to the instruments as possible to get the greatest effect. Remember to bring a yoga matt, blanket and/or pillow as most venues will have floor space to lay down. Chairs for regular seating are also available. Where possible we encourage you to share rides and car pool. It not only saves gas but helps to reduce our carbon foot print on the earth and traffic.
