There is more to New Zealand than Middle Earth, kiwifruit, pavlova and paua shell ashtrays. Lying somewhere in the southwestern Pacific Ocean,the wine this country produces is first class. You could be forgiven for thinking that sauvignon blanc has its origins in New Zealand, such is the country's notoriety for the grape, and its reputation as the worlds finest, but in fact the grape originally came from Bordeaux, France. Obscured by New Zealand's shadow, the charming sauvignon blancs from the vineyards of Europe, and other New World producers have been all but forgotten. Is this really fair?

Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect match to this season's warm weather - it is cool and crisp, with an enticingly warm core and there can be no better time for our upcoming Sauvignon Blanc Taste-Off. Each New Zealand wine will be paired with a contender from the rest of the world in a test that will challenge New Zealand's domination. Which country will be the Sauvignon Blanc winner on the night?
