Nile has created a unique style of music blending the ferocity of modern-day death metal with the ancient tones of the Middle East. The Dead Syndicate went into hiatus after the death of founder member guitarist Jay "Decay" Nowak but eventually started to breathe again when guitarists Brian Magee and John Styers joined the other founder member, Michael Arcane, in 2004, followed shortly afterwards by vocalist Donny Doss who gave them their "voice." Chthonic is a symphonic black metal band from Taiwan that incorporates influences from traditional Chinese music including instruments such as the Er-hu. The band's stated goal is to use their music to bring ancient history and mythology into the modern era, especially the tragic history and unique myths of Taiwan.
