North Bay Village West Drive Community Park Grand Opening April 25, 2009

NORTH BAY VILLAGE TO CELEBRATE PARK GRAND OPENING
Help Plant a Butterfly Garden in Celebration of Earth Day 2009

The entire community is invited to attend the grand opening of the City of North Bay Village’s West Drive Community Park. The celebration will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 7920 West Drive, Harbor Island (north side of Kennedy Causeway).

Spearheaded by the City’s Community Enhancement Board and organized by the Arts, Cultural and Special Events Board, the opening begins with a brief dedication ceremony featuring the Mayor and Commissioners, the R.O.T.C. Color Guard, oak tree and butterfly garden planting with a butterfly release. Food, music, Salsa performance, kids’ games, prizes and raffles are part of the festivities.

“The park’s exceptional views and inspiring eco friendly design enhance the natural beauty of North Bay Village, making it a peaceful gathering spot for residents and guests”, said City Manager Matthew Schwartz. “We encourage everyone to come out for this important occasion in the City’s continued development“, added Schwartz.

Some of the features of Phase 1 of the Park Development Program are beautiful landscaping highlighted by oaks and shade trees, a meandering pathway, benches, open space for passive play or picnics, parking, scenic views of the Bay, and a butterfly garden.

The City of North Bay Village is a three-island community situated in northeast Miami-Dade County between the cities of Miami and Miami Beach. The three islands - North Bay Island, Harbor Island and Treasure Island - are linked by the John F. Kennedy (North East 79th Street) Causeway, which extends east to west across Biscayne Bay from Miami to Miami Beach.
