Portraying the "Game of War", Short Cuts Cinema Classics screens Oh! What a Lovely War (Richard Attenborough, 1969) in the Studio Theatre.
Set during the First World War, and based on a stage musical of the same name, the film portrays the "Game of War", focusing on one family's experiences. Much of the action plays out against the marching songs of the soldiers, and includes some of the more famous, and infamous, moments of the war, including the assassination of Duke Ferdinand, and the Christmas kickabout between British and German soldiers in no-mans-land.
