Oliver, a shy orphan in a London workhouse, is sold off to an undertaker after requesting more food. He escapes from his position, only to find himself learning to be a pick-pocket after meeting the Artful Dodger. Oliver's life seems to be a series of unfortunate events, and even when it looks like he has found a home things don't go smoothly.
