Seattle, Washington 98118

On Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 10 am-5 pm, the residents and businesses of the diverse, dynamic Othello neighborhood are coming together to organize a day-long community celebration to commemorate the completion of the Sound Transit Light Rail line. The street festival at Othello Station will provide locals and visitors the occasion and opportunity to show support for local businesses and celebrate the opening of Light Rail with friends, family and neighbors.

In addition to live music, entertainment and art, attendees can also partake in a variety of activities including registering to vote, learning more about local neighborhood associations, getting advice from public transportation and transportation alternative trip planners and even obtaining an "Undriver's License."

The festival will feature local entertainment from groups including the Lion dance corps, Big World Breaks, Massive Monkees (breakdancers), Ruby Shuz, Spinergy (LED dancers), The Bad Things and Red Heart Alarm. Festival-goers can also learn more about the Othello neighborhood from community groups, plans for an exciting new transit-oriented development, The Station at Othello Park, and neighborhood transit options.

Peruse the offerings of local artists and sample fare from authentic worldwide destinations including East Africa, Malaysia/Indonesia, Mexico, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand and the American South all in the Othello neighborhood!

Come get your very own commemorative light rail opening day t-shirts, stickers, reusable bags and more!
