Sydneysiders can celebrate Christmas with their “Idols” as part of a massive party to launch P&O Cruises’ stunning superliner Pacific Jewel at Circular Quay on Saturday December 12.
Free to the public, the celebration will include live performances by this year’s Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, as well as 2008 Australian Idol winner Wes Carr.
Kicking off at 5pm at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, the charity event will also feature breathtaking aerial acrobatic performances reflecting the ship’s onboard circus entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display.
Kids can also join in the fun with activities such as face painting and photos with Santa and there will be a range of gourmet food stalls offering a selection of dishes available at Pacific Jewel’s five onboard restaurants and cafes.
The Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, will officially launch the ship during a traditional champagne-smashing ceremony, which will be projected live onto the side of the superliner for public viewing.
All funds raised from the launch event will be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation and Special Olympics Australia, two of the Governor-General’s preferred charities.
