On September 18, the South Church will host a community-wide afternoon Peace Walk and an evening Peace Day Celebration to commemorate International Day of Peace. The evening celebration will include live music, food, crafts and games.

Event Details:
4:00 Walk will begin from The South Church, 501 S. Emerson St.

4:30 Ceremony at Mount Prospect Village Hall

5:00 Peace Day Celebration at The South Church, 501 S. Emerson St. Crafts, games, food and live music

Civic, community and religious groups will walk together from the South Church to the Mount Prospect Village Hall. On the village green, there will be a short ceremony to reflect on the importance of global and personal peace. Speakers will include Karen Johnson from the Illinois Peace Alliance and other civic and community leaders. Following the ceremony, the walk will continue back to The South Church for a Peace Day Celebration.

The activities for the evening Peace Day Celebration include peace-related crafts, games, food and live music by Voodoo Cadillac and Friends. The walk and the evening activities are open to the public.
