Irvine Institute for Environmental Education PLANETS, STARS AND BEYOND, 3 Sessions. Anyone who has ever gazed at a clear night sky often experiences a sense of awe and mystery that comes from considering our place in the vastness of the universe. Embark on a short tour of the universe as we: survey the constellations and reason for seasons through the StarLab Planetarium; explore the scale of our solar system; investigate the moon phases; construct comets using dry ice; investigate meteor crater formation; build GalileoScopes; and observe how our international space station is assembled in space. This course is designed to give participants an opportunity to explore and develop a deeper understanding about astronomy through a hands-on, inquiry-based teaching approach (telescope viewing ~ weather permitting). Instructor: Dr. Rommel Miranda; Director, Blinded By the Light; Co-Director, Project ASTRO; Assistant Professor, Towson University. Dates: Wednesdays, October 6 20, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Irvine Nature Center, 11201 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117 443-738-9200 www.ExploreNature.org
