'The Pearl Fishers' is about two fishermen, Zurga and Nadir, and the woman they both love, Leila. Leila has made a vow of chastity, and Zurga and Nadir promised each other that they would never look at Leila again. When Leila and Nadir have an illicit love affair, they are sentenced to death.
