Reading the Stars: Books from Early Hollywood August 1, 2011

"Reading the Stars" looks at some of the many books about movies and movies stars published during the silent film era, including rare titles by some of the biggest names in early Hollywood. Novels, biographies, pictorials, how-to books, photoplays editions and more are all on display.

Curated by author and film historian Thomas Gladysz, this special exhibit on display on the 4th floor of the San Francisco Public Library (in the Steve Silver Beach Blanket Babylon room) is part of a library wide celebration of the silent film era, "Shhhhh!
