Raise money collecting retired cell phones on Earth Day with JAYCEES & Friends!
It's estimated 100 Million cell phones are thrown out annually in the United States landing in our landfills or shipped overseas creating TOXIC Wastelands. Cell phones and batteries are some of the largest contributors of toxic substances to our landfills.
On Saturday, April 17th, The start of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, the Kent County JAYCEES and their W. Warwick Chapter along with The Friends of the Greenway & Arctic Village Association are sponsoring a communitywide clean up.
All volunteers and participants are asked to meet in the rear of the Centreville Bank Parking Lot (between 8:30Am - 2:Pm) on Main Street in W. Warwick, where a Recycling Bin will be placed to capture all recycled cell phones.
Then, on Thursday, April 22, the JAYCEES & Students will celebrate ARBOR Day from 9:Am - 2:Pm. The JAYCEES also encourage the public to join them on Saturday, May 1st from 10:Am - 3:Pm for their 13th annual ECOLOGY DAYS Festival. All events will take place at the award-winning JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum. Contact the JAYCEES for their season long schedule!
At the clean up, the JAYCEES and their Associates will be asking that you bring your old retired, unused, cell phones to be RECYCLED. We will have cell phone recycling bins at the event along with Eco-Star, Cell Phone Beast walking around collecting phones. The JAYCEES will continue with Bin collection on ECOLOGY DAY, May 1st and make other e-recycling bins available for schools, churches, stores & offices.
Collecting and recycling cell phones is not only good for the environment but with the collection of every cell phone we will be raising money for charity.
