Responsible Kids: Really – Dr. Colin D. Sturdy

Kids in today’s society are rushed and hurried. A consequence of this fast-paced lifestyle is that, as parents, we often don’t know how much or how little to do for them. On one hand, we want to help them, but on the other hand, we want them to learn responsibility.

This presentation starts off with highlighting the 10 ways NOT to teach responsibility.
 Serve them/cater to them
 Over-schedule their lives
 Clean up after them
 Cover up for them
 Buy them ‘everything’
 Drive them everywhere
 Coddle them
 Don’t encourage them to do or try new things
 Give them too much freedom or not enough
 Put them first – before you and your partner

Practical tips and suggestions on how to raise children to become more responsible for their actions, behaviour and consequences (the ABCs of life) form the basis of this session.

It is an eye-opening session that will prove to be a valuable 1 1/4 hour investment! This session will be audio-taped and CDs will be produced.

Dr. Sturdy has over 27 years teaching experience, including 10 years as a former school principal. In addition to being a professional speaker, he is a father, coach, and community volunteer. He resides in Toronto, Ontario.
