Spiritually, we are all connected no matter what our beliefs are. In everyday life, spirituality is a part of you, and it can be helpful if you connect to it and have it in your life for wellness. As Diné, we are constantly seeking to get back to Hozho’ – where we come, where we are and where we are going. Peacemaking is talking about our spirituality as a way to come together with our differences, and to re-identify ourselves as Diné. Ray Deal is a very proud Grandpa of 10 beautiful grandchildren and many more with all his siblings and relations. Mr. Deal is presently a Peacemaker Liaison, working with the concept of K'é and Hozho' for Family Wellness with the Shiprock Judicial Branch. He previously worked with Family Crisis Center and Home for Women and Children on domestic violence and other abuse issues. He worked at Tohaali' Community School with children grades K through 8th, and also with the Navajo Americorps Program doing community service work in the Shiprock area for a year. Surviving the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Marines is his greatest victory in life. Today, he enjoys sharing cultural music with his People, whether it is Navajo Traditional Hozhoji ceremonies or Pow-wow songs in any capacity of Hozho Doolee¬. All my relations! Nizhoni.
