"Rock The Losar" March 29, 2009

On Sunday, March 29, Rock the Losar IV – a benefit for the White Lotus Society (Tibetan Dharma Center) — will take place at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Hall
2000 Highland Ave. at Winton Rd. Open to the public, this annual celebration of the Tibetan New Year (Losar) brings together a variety of musicians and dancers from the local community in a festive atmosphere. Among the featured bands are Redline Zydeco, Chuck Abell and the Blue Dance Band (with John Seiger and others), and The Lotus Lizards, a soulful ensemble comprised of members from This Other Life, Sweet Baby James, and Little Wing Blues Band. In addition, Geomantics Dance Theater will offer short dance performances between acts, and members from the local Swing Dance and Zydeco Dance communities will give a free couples dance primer from 12:45-1:15 pm. This year a community potluck meal will take place between 1:15-2:15, followed by dancing all afternoon. The event runs from 12:30-6:30 pm; tickets are available @
