Year number eight of the Rogue Festival continues in Fresno’s cultural and historic Tower District - February 26 - March 7, 2009.
The first Rogue Performance Festival took place in 2002 and produced a six-day theater, music and performance festival that brought together 17 different performing groups and presented 50 performances to over 1,200 audience members. In 2003 the Festival was moved from the Sanctuary Stage Theater to the Tower District and offered a 5 day festival that presented over 25 acts (including 2 national companies) with over 60 performances and doubled the audience attendance. The 2003 Rogue Performance Festival also received a Proclamation from the City of Fresno and was chosen as The Greatest Event On Earth by Festivals.com. Since then the festival has continued to grow in performances and audience. The 2008 Rogue Performance Festival saw 12,000 audience members and boasted over 250 performances from almost 100 acts.
Although initially modeled after the Fringe Festivals which have become popular worldwide, the Rogue is continually evolving into a uniquely dynamic Fresno Arts Event. This non-juried festival offers performers and companies a low cost, high profile opportunity to showcase new and established works to an audience. We are working together to make Fresno a city of the arts, a city we can all be proud of. Join us and make a difference for the arts in Fresno.
