Anton Webern is known as a twentieth century musical innovator. He was also a fine orchestrator and arranger, and he used his considerable talent in this arena to rework J.S. Bach’s masterpiece The Musical Offering for the orchestra. Franz Schubert’s gift for melody is evident in his more than six hundred German songs.
