The Austin IWW presents Sean Sellars to speak about the Coalition of Immakolee Workers (CIW)
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a community-based worker organization. CIW members are largely Latino, Haitian, and Mayan Indian
immigrants working in low-wage jobs throughout the state of Florida. CIW strives to build our strength as a community on a basis of reflection
and analysis, constant attention to coalition building across ethnic divisions, and an ongoing investment in leadership development to help
members continually develop their skills in community education and organization.
Five years after launching the successful Taco Bell Boycott, CIW has now set its sights on McDonalds and the rest of the fast food industry. The latest mobilization is coming in April as the next Truth Tour begins.
Sean Sellars is a member of the Student Farm Worker Alliance and has been working with CIW for almost two years.
