The Second Annual Prescott Harvest Festival on October 29 takes as its theme this year "Day of the Dead," a traditional Mexican holiday dedicated to the remembrance of lost loved ones. The festival will be held at Granite Creek Park (554 N. 6th St.) from noon to 8:00 pm.

The Harvest Festival will feature a kid's zone, full of fun games, activities, inflatables, face-painting and clowns; for the adults, a beer garden with the nation’s finest microbreweries as well as delectable wines will be available for the tasting.

The musical headliner for the Harvest Festival Day of the Dead is Tucson-based Calexico, a band that fuses elements of jazz, indie rock, country and Spanish-rooted sub-genres. Additional musical performance from 13-piece Mariachi band Sergio Mendezoa Y La Orkestra, Rose’s Pawn Shop, The Silver Thread Trio, Dylan Ludwig & the Red River Outfit, and David Whitley with Dallas Horman and Innes Vitols are sure to keep you here well into the evening.

To that end, the Marriott SpringHill Suites in downtown Prescott (just a five-minute walk from the event) is offering a special rate of $219 for a two-night stay in a studio suite with kitchenette for October 28 and 29. This includes a $50 Mobil/Exxon Gas Card and complimentary breakfast. Visit www.marriott.com/prcsh or call 928-776-0998 and ask about the Harvest Fest Package.

The Harvest Festival is produced by Culture Collective, a non-profit organization which dedicates the proceeds of their event to local educational or environmental charities. This year, the Culture Collective will donate the proceeds to the Environmental Education Program at Prescott College.
