Tennesseans can get a taste of Africa without leaving the state, and share their own way of life as well, at the Second Annual Sudanese-American Festival on Saturday Sept. 20, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.
The theme of the festival is "Creating a Bridge Between Cultures. Nashville's Sudanese community will be serving up traditional Sudanese food, filling the air with African music and showing off local artisanship. Festival activities will also include inflatables and face painting for the kids and demonstrations from local Lost Boys on how to "mold" Sudanese cows out of clay. A selection of vendors will be on hand selling an array of unique jewelry and handcrafted goods.
The event is presented by Aid Sudan. See www.aidsudan.org or contact Leigh Ann Cates at leighann@aidsudan.org or 615-595-0654.
