Shakespeare’s comic powers are at their pinnacle in the lovers’ witty rhymed couplets, the lyrical poetry of the fairies, and the delightfully down-to-earth prose of Bottom, the amateur actor who acquires a donkey’s head and an unusual love interest on one crazy midsummer night.
