Old Trees and Young Children — Paintings by Shaoli Wang

Inspired by her travels to Europe and back to China, Shaoli has taken her painting in a new direction. This exhibition features oil portraits of old trees and young children.

Shaoli paints her trees as still life — distilled to the essence, with strong lighting — seemingly lifeless but capable of living forever, each with its own personality. In contrast, while equally expressive, her portraits speak of the hardship and fragility of life and yet the will to survive.
