Our mission is to end the shame which accompanies sexual violence in the lives of Tennesseans and to change societal attitudes.
The overwhelming majority of victims are ashamed to speak out. Using the word "slut" or any other word as a weapon to blame the victim and shame someone into silence is not OK. That silence compounds the pain, shelters criminals, and endangers us all.
We are asking you to join us for SlutWalk on October 2, 2011, at Centennial Park, to make a unified statement about sexual assault and victims’ rights and to demand respect for all. You don’t have to wear your sexual proclivities on your sleeve; we just ask that you come. Any gender-identification, any age. Singles, couples, parents, sisters, brothers, children, friends. Come walk or roll or strut or holler or stomp with us. This has become a global movement, with Satellites happening all over the world.
Join us in our mission to spread the word that those who experience sexual assault are not the ones at fault, without exception!
