An exciting concert of Baroque duets and solos for soprano and continuo performed by outstanding NYC ensemble, ARTEK.
Performers - ARTEK's two spectacular sopranos, Laura Heimes and Barbara Hollinshead, supported by director Gwendolyn Toth, harpsichord, Christa Patton, harp, and Agnes Kállay, cello.
Selections - Arias, madrigals and cantatas for voice(s) and continuo by Claudio Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi and George Friderik Handel (two Italian pieces that he later recycled in his masterpiece, Messiah) and others. Also, instrumental offerings including Domenico Gabrielli's ricercare for cello and continuo, Bernardo Storace's ciaccona for harpsichord, and Luigi Rossi's passacaglia for harp.
