South Beach is a barrier beach located approximately three miles south of Chatham Lighthouse. A short boat trip lands us on the southern tip of the beach, a roosting and feeding ground for thousands of migrating shorebirds. Our goal is to learn how to separate and identify these shorebirds by profile, size, and color. Along with a large variety of shorebirds, we'll study several species of tern, raptor, and hopefully, jaegers. Fee includes boat trip and transportation. - - Open to anyone age 16 or older. Discount fee for both dates (July 10 and September 11) $115 members, $135 non-members. Registration is required. Call 781-259-2200 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=774-DFP10SU1 for more information.
