On this trip to the south shore we will cover many of the top birding locations in the area - Minot Rocks, Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary, Brant Rock, Plymouth Beach, and Cumberland Fields. With such a wide range of habitats, we should find an interesting variety of wintering species. Our target birds will include raptors - Rough-legged hawk, Short-eared Owl; ducks - up to 18 species including Harlequins; land birds - many sought-after species including Snow Bundting, Northern Shrike, Eastern Meadowlark, Lapland Longspur; and shorebirds - Purple Sandpiper and Dunlin. Given our past experiences, we should have close-up views of most of the species and have many opportunities to sharpen our ID skills. - - Open to anyone age 16 or older. Pre-registration is required. Registration is required. Call 781-259-2200 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=227-DFP10FA1 for more information.
