705 Fourth Street
San Juan Bautista, California 95045

Who: For the past three summers El Teatro Campesino has opened its doors and welcomed STAR children to their playhouse. STAR San Juan Bautista is a three-week program for youth ages 8-17, where participants have taken to the stage in El Teatro Campesino’s historic playhouse with as much exuberance and talent as the many professional actors who have performed in this local treasure over the years.

What: This summer STAR San Juan Bautista participants will present a kid-friendly adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Participants master the language of Shakespeare while having fun! The Tempest is a magical show about the adventures of a shipwrecked Sorcerer and his beautiful daughter. The show is filled with music, magic, and mayhem as a whirlwind of pirates and pixies dance across the stage.

STAR leader, Javier Hurtado, directs the production. He enthusiastically stated: “The play’s the thing. This Tempest is going Bollywood. There will be music, dance and drama that Shakespeare would have approved.”

Where: The STAR program in San Juan Bautista is sharing the stage with El Teatro Campesino’ current summer production La Carpa de los Rasquachis & Tent of the Underdogs. El Teatro Campesino Playhouse is located at 705 Fourth Street in the City of History, San Juan Bautista.

When: The two evening performances of The Tempest will be held on Monday, August 11th and Tuesday, August 12th at 7:30 PM.

Cost: Tickets will be available at the door. Prices: Adults: $12; Seniors/Students: $10;
Children 12 and under: $8
