Sultans of String CD Release November 15, 2008

On Saturday, November 15, multiple award winning ensemble, Sultans of String perform an intoxicating and spicy stew of world, latin, jazz stylings at the historic Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts.

Sultans of String are Canada’s ambassadors of musical diversity. The band romps through an energized adventure of Latin, Middle Eastern, Gypsy–jazz and folk rhythms, celebrating musical fusion and human creativity with warmth and virtuosity. Fiery violin dances with rumba-flamenco guitar while a funk bass lays down unstoppable grooves. Acoustic strings meet electronic wizardry to create layers and depth of sound, exciting audiences to their feet with the irresistible need to dance.

Six-string violinist and bandleader Chris McKhool (who has guest starred with Jesse Cook and Pavlo), will be joined for this concert by rumba flamenco wizard Kevin Laliberté (The Chieftains, Jesse Cook, Charlotte Church), and bass master Drew Birston (Chantal Kreviazuk). The trio transform into a quintet this very special evening with the added textures of the great Eddie Paton on guitar and jaw-dropping talent of Cuban percussionist, Alberto Suarez!
