BPA has gone to the dogs! A. R. Gurneys laugh-out-loud comedy is called Delicious and Dizzy by The New York Times. Kate and Greg (Kim Failla and John Ellis) are Upper East Side empty-nesters headed in opposite directions: He is losing interest in his increasingly unsatisfying career just as she is optimistically plunging back into the professional world. Imbalance escalates into conflict when Greg brings home a flirtatious stray mutt whose collar identifies her as Sylvia. Soon Kate and Sylvia are vigorously vying for Gregs attention and affection. What makes this plot both pointed and hilarious is that Sylvia is portrayed not by a dog but by a vivacious young woman (Bronsyn Foster Springer). This precocious, street-smart poodle/lab mix not only talks back when spoken to, but also quotes Homer and sings Cole Porter - making her a formidable other woman in one of the most unusual romantic triangles in the history of theater. The cast is balanced with Todd Erler playing three very different and unique characters. Sylvia is directed by Steven Fogell and runs one weekend only at BPA. This play contains adult language and is suitable for PG-13 audiences. Tickets: $20 for adults, and $18 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206.842.8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island.
